FAQ

What can I expect from my first session?

The first session is all about getting to know you and the issues that have brought you to therapy. If it helps, you are welcome to bring a few notes about the reasons you have sought counseling and what you would like to get out of the sessions. It’s completely normal to feel nervous leading up to your first session. We pride ourselves in our ability to put our clients at ease.

Once we have heard your story, we can suggest a course of therapy that would be useful for you.

The first session will also include the completing of forms including some basic contact information and a consent form which covers areas such as confidentiality, privacy and fees.

How long is the session?

Each individual session is for 50 mins whilst couple and family therapy sessions are for 1 hour.

How can I make an appointment?

You can contact Nilly directly by phone or email.

How often will I have to come?

You are ultimately in control of how often you come to therapy. We find that clients usually start with weekly sessions that they reduce gradually as they start to feel better and resolve their issues. At your first appointment, we can discuss what would be best in your circumstances.

Do I need a referral?

No referrals are required. Most of our clients come from either word of mouth or self-referral.

Do you conduct online sessions

We are happy to do zoom sessions for those clients who are not able to meet in person. Please speak to Nilly if you would like this as an option.

What happens during couple or family therapy

These sessions are conducted with all parties present, using a systemic lens. In other words, we don’t just focus on individual issues, but how the interactions between the individuals impact the family or couple. Through the therapy process, we help our clients to change these unhealthy dynamics and replace them with more constructive patterns of behaviour, thereby creating stronger connections and more positive relationships between all family members.

What is the cost?

Please contact us for pricing as this varies between individual and family therapy

Are Medicare rebates available?

Medicare rebates are currently not available at Harmony Family Therapy

What is the cancellation policy?

Your appointments are precious. When you make an appointment with us, we set that time aside especially for you. We understand that sometimes special circumstances arise that might prevent you to attend. In such cases, we need a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellation or re-scheduling of your appointment. A $50 cancellation fee applies for late cancellations (ie less than 24 hours) and a full fee is charged for missed appointments.

CORONAVIRUS

Many people feel concerned about COVID-19 transmissions during face-to-face conversations.

We want our clients to feel safe and confident to use our services. At Harmony Family Therapy, we follow all the WA government guidelines for COVID-19. All therapists have up to date COVID -19 vaccinations and will self-isolate if they are feeling unwell or have been a close contact. Masks will be worn when required. Our rooms are large enough to accommodate 4 people within the 2 sq metre rule per person.

Despite these measures, if you are uncomfortable with attending in person, we also have the option of zoom sessions, from the comfort of your own home.
